How
we can help ~
A diagnosis of breast
cancer does not have to be a time of darkness and uncertainty - it is
our goal to provide a lamp of hope and even joy to illuminate your
path as you journey. At
DORCAS Project, Inc.,
we
have several visions of how we want to help and encourage women who are
dealing with a diagnosis of breast cancer. Our philosophy is to walk
alongside women, both breast cancer patients themselves, as well as the
people who care about and for them, by providing information and
resources that might otherwise not be possible.

HOPE(c)
Our resource guide of cancer-related medical
providers in the Stillwater, Tulsa, and Oklahoma City areas, as well as
providing some hints and tips and general information for you and your loved ones. We are
constantly striving to update this list so that it is current and
relative. Your input is always welcome!
Bosom Buddies
Our volunteer program where we seek to
partner a breast cancer survivor with someone who can minister to their
needs, whatever that might mean. It might be a listening ear or words of
encouragement, or it might even be someone to transport them to a
doctor's appointment or even a treatment. A surprising number of women
go through this journey alone, and that's just not acceptable to us
unless it's their personal choice. Or volunteering may just be a way of
giving back to women out of their own gratitude, however that has
manifested in their lives.
BFF*
Our upcoming program where we will seek to
provide bras and breast protheses to women who have had a mastectomy but
are unable to afford them due to lack of insurance or adequate finances.
Whether through transportation by a
Bosom Buddies volunteer to an
American Cancer Society facility, or through local funding, we want to
be able to fill this gap, and efforts are currently underway to provide
the funding necessary, so check back often.

Our dreams and visions for
DORCAS encompass a lot of other
areas we hope to address in the near future: workshops in journaling,
art therapy, nutrition, exercise/relaxation, also ideas for celebrations
(end of treatments, hat parties, etc.), gifts, and many more ideas.
If you or someone you know could benefit
from one of our programs, please let us know. And we also want to know
of any needs you've identified that aren't being met anywhere else.
Together we believe we can make a difference, and make life with breast
cancer something that you can thrive through, rather than just survive.
